As someone who's been an office worker at a huge corporation for over seven years, and who just within this past month finally decided to quit after years of steadily deteriorating working conditions, this VN hit very close to home for me, heh. I ended up reading the entire thing in one sitting, staying up until after 2 AM to finish it~
While I didn't make the sort of sacrifice our anonymous protagonist did to get this job, just like her I stayed far longer than I should've, because just like her I felt like it'd be unreasonable of me to quit: "It's a good job at a good company that I busted my ass to get; I know things are going to shit more and more with each passing quarter, and they've given me pay 'raises' that were well below inflation two years in a row now, but if I just buckle down and work a little bit harder...!" So it goes.
My personal bullshit aside, I think you've got an excellent draft here~ I'd be truly delighted to see you return to this story and finish it someday, heheheh~
P.S.: Someone needs to tell Protagonist-chan about sending follow-up emails to create a paper trail for all managerial and administrative decisions, discussions, and approvals, ESPECIALLY in a toxic environment like this one~
Oh damn, you made it through to the end? I applaud you for that, and all in one sitting! xD
My plan is to finish it soon, but that might not be until next year due to some other obligations I have with tighter deadlines. What I might do is, after the deadline next month, that I'll set aside specific days to work on this again.
Sorry for the delayed response, it took me a bit to collect myself to respond to this comment because it was nice. ;u;
I hope when I give this project the needed attention it deserves, it will be even better.
After reading through so much preamble/warning about the state of the game, I was delightfully shocked to see such a well-realized and visually striking intro! I'll perhaps come back to finish the rest as you've rested yourself and put more into it, but I think this is a really promising start! The character sprites have so much charm, and while I know the CSP backgrounds are likely temporary, they too add to a particular kind of flavor that I think is really cool. Keep up the good work!
there's the Ben Esposito saying, "no one said when you made a video game you had to make the entire thing", and there's never been anything more true than that. in a way, this is a kind of beautiful illustration of that in its current state.
Sorry for the delayed response, I spent these past few months basically rolling around going: "I need to respond, but I don't know how~" This is just how I'm like when I get positive comments :' D
Anyways, thanks for your kind words. It might be a while before I touch this project again (since there's some stuff that have tight deadlines) but I wanted to respond to this and the other comment before I sequester myself for a while to work on my spooktober Jam entry.
I hope, when I finish this project, that it'll live up to the expectations of others. ^u^
